The Stations of the Cross

To follow the Stations of the Cross is to discover, as Bernadette did, how much we are loved by Jesus and to take our burdens to Him in complete trust.

Two different Stations of the Cross, in different styles, invite us to take part in this devotion that we can follow individually (booklets are available at the bookstore) or accompanied by a member of the Sanctuary’s reception team:

This Stations of the Cross, inaugurated in September 1912, stretches over 1,500 metres and involves difficult climbs and descents.
Its 15 stations are interspersed with 115 life-size statues in patinated cast iron.

Each tableau of statues illustrates a key event in the life of Christ during his Passion: from His condemnation by Pontius Pilate to His entombment on Good Friday evening.
