Praying every day with Lourdes

Praying every day with Lourdes

Prayer is a dialogue with God in a personal relationship with him. We cannot pray without hoping that God will hear us. In 1858, Lourdes was born from a listening and an interaction between two young women.

On 11th February 1858, Bernadette Soubirous went to the Grotto of Massabielle for a very specific material need, there was no wood to heat the cachot. She had an unexpected encounter that changed her life. Your life can also change by a visit to the Grotto of Lourdes.

Prayer in Lourdes can begin by being silent and listening to God who speaks to us through others. Bernadette was silent and she heard “a noise like a gust of wind”. Beginning with silence in your heart is a good start!

Do you want to go a step further? You can talk to God through the one who said “yes” to God’s unconditional love. The “Hail Mary” is a key prayer in the life of Christians. The second important prayer is the Our Father, the one that the Lord Jesus taught to his apostles. With these prayers, you will be able to follow the rosary at the Grotto every day.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us, sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
“Prayer of a poor beggar to Jesus” “O Jesus give me, I pray, the bread of humility, the bread of obedience, the bread of charity, the bread of strength to break my will and make it one with yours... the bread of patience to bear the suffering my heart endures… the bread of seeing only you alone in all things and at all times” “"My hope is in you, Lord. Be my refuge, for You are my strength” “He is enough for me… Jesus alone for riches”
Hail Mary, woman of faith, First of the disciples! Virgin Mother of the Church, help us always to account for the hope that is in us, with trust in human goodness and the Father’s love. Teach us to build up the world beginning from within: in the depths of silence and prayer, in the joy of fraternal love, in the unique fruitfulness of the Cross. Holy Mary, Mother of believers, Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Amen!”
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
“O Mary, tender Mother, You stooped to earth to appear to a weak child and communicate certain things to her, despite her great indignity... You, the Queen of heaven and earth, were good enough to use this that there was weakest according to the world. O Mary, give to the one who dares to call herself Your child this precious virtue of humility. Help Your child, O tender Mother, to imitate You in everything and for everything, in a word, to be a child after Your heart and the heart of Your dear Son.”
"O Mary, give to the one who dares to call herself Your child this precious virtue of humility" “How happy my soul was, O good Mother, when I had the good fortune to look upon You! How I love to remember those sweet moments spent under Your gaze full of kindness and mercy for us. Yes, tender Mother, You stooped down to earth to appear to a mere child and communicate certain things to her, despite her great unworthiness. And what a subject for humility! You, the Queen of heaven and earth, were good enough to use what was weakest according to the world. O Mary, give to the one who dares to call herself Your child this precious virtue of humility. Help Your child, O tender Mother, to imitate You in everything and for everything, in a word, to be a child after Your heart and the heart of Your dear Son.”
“My Good Mother, give me a burning heart for Jesus”: “O Mary, it was at the height of pain and trials that You became my Mother, so I must have great and complete trust in You. When I am subject to trials by creatures, and when I am exposed to temptation and the desolation of my soul, I will come and take refuge in your Heart, my good Mother. I beg You not to let me perish, to grant me the grace to be submissive and confident in my trials following Your example, to suffer with love. May I remain, like You, standing at the foot of the Cross and nailed to the Cross, if such is Your dear Son's good pleasure. Never will a child devoted to Mary be able to perish. My Good Mother, have pity on me; I give myself entirely to You, so that You can give me to Your dear Son, whom I want to love with all my heart. My Good Mother, give me a heart that burns for Jesus. Amen.”
“Oh ever immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comforter of the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you appeared in the grotto of Lourdes, you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favours, and where many sufferers have obtained healing for their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal. I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. My loving Mother, hear my humble prayer and grant my request. I will endeavour to imitate your virtues so that I may one day share your glory. Amen” Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us! Saint Bernadette, pray for us!
