An old mill transformed into a Sanctuary bookshop
Just a stone’s throw from the Grotto, the Grotto Bookshop is housed in the old Savy mill, a building that Bernadette saw on each of her visits to Massabielle. Today, this place steeped in history is at the heart of the Sanctuary and has been refurbished to welcome pilgrims looking for spiritual reading material, prayer resources and devotional objects to remind them of their visit to Lourdes.
A place that promotes authors and offers opportunities to meet others interested in Christian literature
Much more than just a sales outlet, the Grotto Bookshop is also a place where Christian literature can be shared and discussed.
Throughout the year, it hosts meetings with authors, book signings and cultural events dedicated to the faith.
An eagerly awaited highlight, the Christian Book Festival, held every year around 15th August, brings together writers, theologians, priests and people of faith.
