Easter and Holy Week in Lourdes

Pour les catholiques, la Semaine Sainte est la dernière semaine du temps du carême, qui débute avec le mercredi des Cendres, cette année le 22 février. Elle commence avec le dimanche des Rameaux, le 2 avril, qui rappelle l’entrée solennelle du Christ à Jérusalem. Elle inclut le jeudi Saint, où Jésus institua l’Eucharistie au cours de la Cène et le vendredi Saint, jour de la Passion du Christ et de sa mort sur la croix. Elle s’achève avec la vigile pascale pendant la nuit du samedi Saint au dimanche de Pâques où est célébrée la Résurrection du Christ.

Easter and Holy Week in Lourdes

For Catholics, Holy Week is the last week of Lent, which begins with Ash Wednesday, this year February 22. It begins with Palm Sunday, April 2, which recalls the solemn entry of Christ into Jerusalem. It includes Maundy Thursday, when Jesus instituted the Eucharist during the Last Supper, and Good Friday, the day of Christ’s Passion and death on the cross. It ends with the Easter Vigil during the night of Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday when the Resurrection of Christ is celebrated.
