MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA on the Rosary Esplanade from 7:45 p.m. July-August
Throughout the summer, the Sanctuary is inviting you to come and experience a twilight programme of sacred music, and let yourself be immersed in the spirituality that characterises the Lourdes Nights.
From Amaury Vassily to the Little Singers of the Wooden Cross via the musical, Bernadette of Lourdes, and sacred polyphony, come and enjoy a programme comprising both the cultural and spiritual, the modern and traditional that is certain to move you.
TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION, at 9:00 p.m.
Every pilgrim and every visitor who comes to Lourdes wants to take part in the Marian torchlight procession. Since the time of the apparitions, crowds have come to the Grotto with torches, responding to the invitation of the Virgin Mary to “come here in procession”.
During this procession, there is a passion, and a momentum that comes from this ocean of light, from the presence of people from all over the world, praying to Mary in different languages. You have to experience it for yourself. The statue of Our Lady of Lourdes is carried in procession through the Sanctuary: people ask her to watch over their family and loved ones.
Come and be part of this tidal wave of light. You, too, can carry a candle and sing the Ave Maria, in front of the Rosary Basilica, beautifully illuminated for the occasion.
NIGHT MASS at the Grotto of the Apparitions, at 10:30 p.m.
After the torchlight procession, come and gather in front of the Grotto, where it all began, for a night mass. Gather in the light of the candles in front of the very spot where the apparitions took place to entrust God with your intentions, for your loved ones and your family.
Then, in the silence and peace of the night, go and light a candle in front of Our Lady for your intentions and those of all your loved ones. To end your day in the silence of the night, you can go and collect some water to take home and give to those are unable to come.
