Precision work, down to the tenth of a millimetre<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The statue, by Joseph-Hugues Fabisch (whose name is clearly visible on the pedestal), dates from 1864, and is based on the descriptions of Bernadette Soubirous herself: \u201cI raised my head looking towards the grotto, I saw a Lady dressed in white, she had a white dress and a blue sash and a yellow rose on each foot, the colour of her rosary chain.\u201d
It is still that same statue that stands in the Grotto and that millions of people see each year in Lourdes.

Our Lady of Lourdes all over the world<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>

You can find Lourdes Grottos throughout the world which, in a missionary spirit, continue at home a devotion that started in Lourdes…
For Bernadette, the Grotto was the place where she caught a glimpse of Heaven. A Heaven that came to her and into which she was introduced. For the pilgrims of Lourdes, the Grotto remains this experience of the Kingdom of Heaven which they discover \u201cpresent, among us\u201d. The countless replicas of the Grotto of Lourdes that exist throughout the world provide a valuable insight into this. They show us that, over and above being a sanctuary, Lourdes is first and foremost a grace offered to all, at all times and in all places. But these other Grottos also remind us that the reception of this grace is enhanced by concrete support.
Thus, many people recite the rosary in front of a simple postcard showing the Grotto. Others close their eyes and travel in spirit to the Grotto of Lourdes to pray there. On 11th February 1858, Bernadette, while going to look for wood near Massabielle, had no idea of the meeting she was about to have with the Virgin Mary, whose name she would not know until 25th March, and not even then, since the term \u201cImmaculate Conception\u201d (whom she referred to as \u201cAquer\u00f3\u201d, that in patois) was completely unknown to her! And this is what confirmed the truth of her testimony.
